Family Service Endowment Fund

Planned giving always has exemplified donors’ commitment to preserving the mission and values of Family Service of Greater Boston for future generations.  The Endowment Fund has enabled donors to create a legacy of support to assist in underwriting current program services and assure capacity to invest in the future strength of Boston families.  Contributions to the Endowment Fund are invested prudently, in consultation with professional financial advisors, to produce an additional revenue stream to support Family Service programs.

Typically, gifts are made in the form of bequests of cash or tangible property, appreciated securities, real estate, life insurance policies or charitable trusts.

You may create an endowment gift with no restrictions to be used at the discretion of the Family Service Board of Trustees for the general support of our mission and programs—or you may wish to designate your gift to support specific programs or administrative purposes.  Current major program priorities include:

  • Healthy child development
  • Parenting education
  • Youth leadership development
  • Family emergency assistance
  • Summer camp scholarships
  • Center for Behavioral Health/Trauma Services

You may also wish to consider funding a personalized “annual gift” endowment, with the income assuring a yearly gift to Family Service in your name in perpetuity.

We encourage you to discuss other specific endowed giving interests with us to determine their compatibility with our program goals.

There are many ways you can invest in the future of Family Service of Greater Boston through the Endowment Fund.  In all cases, prospective donors are encouraged to seek independent counsel regarding their individual financial planning prior to making an endowment commitment.  For further information, please call the Development Office at 617-523-6400.
